Protect Your Children's Eyes

You may remember us shouting about protecting our little ones eyes from the sun's UV rays, at the beginning of summer. Our message was clear;

Our eyes are ten times more sensitive to UV light than our skin and although most of the damaging effects from the sun don't appear until later on in life, children’s eyes are at the greatest risk of UV damage. They have big pupils and clearer lenses, meaning up to 70 per cent more UV light reaches the retina than in an adult's eye!

For that reason, as well as sun cream and hats, we recommend you make sunglasses an essential holiday accessory for your children as early as they will keep them on. Just be careful of poor quality sunglasses which could do more harm than good. When we wear a tinted lens are pupils actually go bigger letting more light into our eyes. Tinted "sunglasses" which don't carry proper UV protection would therefore allow MORE harmful rays into our eyes. BEWARE!

To help get this message out to all of you in our local community we joined forces with Purple Monster Play Centre and ran an exciting giveaway of a pair of RayBan kids aviators and a summer pass to the play centre. Our lucky winner Amii, or more importantly, her gorgeous son Lucas, has had an absolute ball this summer.

Thanks to our giveaway Amii has had the reassurance that Lucas's eyes have been properly protected while he plays.

Don't forget to visit us for your children's sunglasses so you can have the same peace of mind.

Good luck to all of you braving the back to school challenge this week...
